Having the day off on the third Monday in February is a wonderful idea. Busy people can take time out of their schedules to be with those that are nearest and dearest. Perhaps the idea of having to set aside a day to spend with your family may seem unnecessary, but it is amazing how hard it can be to find time to just enjoy each other's company.
In honour of Family Day we have decided to showcase some rooms that are well-deisgned, yet allow the entire to family to congregate and relax together. These spaces prove that living with kids and having a refined space can coexist in harmony. After all, as much as our homes showcase our great taste, they are primarily a place for living.
This kitchen is completely on trend with a black faucet and lacquered surfaces, yet the area rug would be a wonderful place for a toddler to hang out while mom and dad are making dinner.
The modern sofa and coffee table in this living room are well-designed, but there is nothing too precious for kids. A mix of throw pillows makes the space seem more casual and fun.
One would hardly notice that this dining room is perfect for accommodating even the tiniest of family members. The adjustable highchair blends in seamlessly with the eclectic mix of modern dining chairs.
The open floor plan in this room offers something for everybody. People can cook and chat in the kitchen, while others work on homework at the table and lounge on the sofa.
Although this living room may not have been designed around family living, we think it is an ideal space for everyone. The super soft carpet, low profile table and cuddle-worthly seating make it a great room.
