For a girl who would give her last penny to travel, a weekend away is always in order. Not long ago I treated myself to a three-day getaway in Lisbon, Portugal. Lisbon proved to be the perfect combination of coastal good-looks and well-worn charm. I love Lisbon's tiled facades, yellow funiculars, and vibrant nightlife.
To enjoy sophisticated design stay at the Altis Belem Hotel & Spa: sweeping views, impeccable rooms, and a gorgeous spa. Sushi and a sun deck to boot.
Relax in your soaking tub to survey the modern interior and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows. Take a dip in one of the pools overlooking the Targus River.
Take in more of Lisbon's historical treasures and stay in a luxurious 19th century palace and national monument - the Pestana Palace Hotel.
The bedrooms are full of incredible French-inspired details. Splurge for the royal suite or enjoy one of the many exquisite rooms looking over the lush gardens.
More centrally located is the delightful Casa de Santos. The decor is tasteful and amusingly theatrical in scale - the perfect pick for a weekend in the city for one.
The high ceilings, crisp linens, and individually decorated rooms make this hotel an ideal destination. Their homemade breakfast was excellent.
When your tummy starts to rumble head to Chafariz do Vinho | Enoteca. The dates wrapped in bacon with a ginger, orange and sparkling wine sauce really tickled my fancy. This former aqueduct is a delightful place to enjoy a wine flight or two while touring the wine cellar (in the aqueduct itself, of course).
At Cervejaria Ramiro you should book ahead to avoid a wait, or sip beers on the sidewalk, before you indulge in consuming all things seafood. This place should not be missed. Try a little bit of everything and you will be rewarded.
